By Ann: Self-love isn’t about prioritizing yourself over others or self-punishment when things go wrong. It’s about treating yourself with kindness and patience, even after making mistakes. Self-compassion is another aspect of loving oneself.
Above all, self-love perseveres with tenacity. God first loved us and demonstrated His love for us through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, making us all deserving of love.
Accepting and loving oneself, despite flaws and imperfections, is the essence of true self-love. This is how we should love one another and ourselves. We all deserve love because God loves us despite our actions.
It’s about recognizing your worth and realizing that you don’t need to be in certain environments or with specific people to understand your value. Regardless of others’ opinions, I love who I am. I have faith in myself, understand my self-worth as a child of God, and believe in God’s plan for my life.
Many people struggle to like themselves, fixating on flaws and inadequacies rather than accepting themselves as masterpieces created in God’s image. They criticize themselves and wonder why they’re unhappy or have poor relationships. You can’t expect to get along with others if you can’t even get along with yourself.
You need to be your own best ally and friend. Don’t be your own enemy. You cannot love another person if you do not love yourself. Loving yourself enables you to love others.
Start each morning by focusing on your strengths. You may have vulnerabilities and have made mistakes, but you have more good qualities than bad. Dwelling on the bad doesn’t enable improvement, and beating yourself up for past mistakes doesn’t move you forward.
The better you feel about yourself, the better you’ll perform. If you’re hard on yourself, you’ll also be hard on others. If you can’t get along with yourself, how can you get along with your family?
Begin by being for yourself. When you love yourself, you can love others. It starts with you. Love is the answer to finding our self-worth.
Believe in yourself regardless of others’ approval. Love yourself regardless of feedback. Love yourself because God loves you, regardless of your actions.
God loves everybody equally, regardless of their circumstances. His love is constant, saving and healing the broken-hearted, the abused, the rejected, and the unloved. God loves you, regardless of who else does.
By loving ourselves, we radiate and attract light.
Love and Light,
Ann
