New Moon Ritual: Reset, Cleanse & Realign

By Audrey: Harnessing lunar energy to create space, clarity, and deeper connection.

As a traditional pagan, as well as a professional psychic and divinator, I work closely with the energy of the new moon—especially during the spring solstice, also known as Ostara. This is a powerful time for inner work, renewal, and creating more intentional space for connection—with ourselves and with those we love.

As the seasons shift and the light returns, nature gently encourages us to do the same. What we often call “spring cleaning” is more than just a physical act—it’s an energetic reset.

Clutter, dust, and disorganization in our homes, workspaces, cars, and surroundings don’t just exist externally—they subtly weigh on our minds. They create stagnation, fog, and overwhelm. When we clear our space, we also clear our energy, making room for focus, creativity, and emotional lightness.

This is why the new moon is such a potent time to begin.

Step One: Channeling & Cleansing

Begin by setting a gentle reminder for the evening of the new moon (for example, April 17). This is when the moon’s energy is most supportive for setting intentions and initiating change—both physically and spiritually.

Channeling doesn’t need to be complicated.

Take 10 minutes to:

Sit in stillness
Quiet your mind
Set the intention to receive only positive, supportive energy
Allow yourself to simply be

This moment of presence opens you up to the moon’s natural, restorative energy.

Once complete, move into a simple cleansing action within your space:

Sweep a floor
Dust a surface
Tidy a small area

Start small. The goal is not perfection—it’s intention.

Afterward, shift something in your environment, even slightly. Move an object, rearrange a corner, or introduce something new that brings you joy—a candle, a meaningful item, or a beautiful object.

This physical movement activates the energy and anchors your intention into your space.

Sealing the Space

To complete the energetic cleanse, seal your space with intention.

Starting in the eastern corner, move through the space using your preferred method:

Burning sage or palo santo
Incense (such as “come to me” blends)
Or a smoke-free alternative like sage or lavender spray

Finish by sprinkling a small amount of cinnamon near windowsills and doorways—an age-old practice believed to invite protection and positive energy.

This step symbolizes your commitment to a clear, protected, and energetically aligned environment.

Step Two: The Connection List

The second part of this ritual is just as important—nurturing your relationships.

Create a list of people who:

Bring you joy
Support your growth
Encourage your path

Next to each name, write one activity you’d genuinely enjoy doing together.

Then—take action.

Reach out. Check in. Make plans.

In a busy world, meaningful connection doesn’t always happen by chance—it requires intention. Strengthening your relationships is a powerful part of your personal and spiritual alignment.

Working With the Moon Cycle

As the new moon cycle progresses, aim to:

Continue cleansing different areas of your environment
Connect with each person on your list

Completing this process within the cycle signals clarity and commitment—to yourself and to the life you are creating.

A New You Begins With Intention

This ritual is about more than cleaning or planning—it’s about alignment.

It’s about creating space for:

New opportunities
Deeper connections
Courageous action

Whether that means reconnecting with an old friend, asking someone out for coffee, or planning a meaningful moment with your partner—this is how transformation begins.

When practiced consistently, especially during powerful seasonal shifts like the solstices, this ritual becomes a catalyst for real change.

Because while fortune may favor the bold,
it also favors those who support and align with themselves.

The new moon offers you a fresh start.

The rest begins with you.
