Are You Really Cursed?

By Ann: The word curse comes from the Old English word curs, which dates back to before the 11th century.

Its deeper roots are somewhat uncertain, but it is believed to be connected to words meaning “a prayer” or “a vow” specifically, a negative invocation. Over time, it came to mean an expression of ill-wishing or a supernatural imprecation, often associated with misfortune or divine punishment in medieval beliefs.

Jamie was convinced he was cursed.
In just one month, everything seemed to unravel. His long-term relationship ended abruptly, leaving him feeling lost and heartbroken. Just a week later, he was laid off from a job he believed was secure. Then, as if life wanted to make a spectacle of his bad luck, his car broke down in the middle of a torrential downpour.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, watching the rain stream down the windshield, he muttered to himself, “I must be cursed. Nothing is going my way.”
When Jamie confided in his friend Sam, Sam shook his head.

“Mate, you’re not cursed. You’re just going through a rough patch. But you’re seeing patterns that aren’t really there. You’re caught in a downward spiral, and you need to break the cycle.”

At first, Jamie wasn’t convinced. However, Sam’s words stayed with him. He decided to start writing things down—not only the bad things that happened, but also the small positives he would normally overlook.

A stranger held the door open for him. He found a forgotten $10 bill in an old jacket pocket. A neighbour smiled and stopped for a friendly chat. Gradually, he began to notice that the clouds were starting to part, even if only slightly.

Yet something inside him still felt heavy. His energy was low, and he struggled to shake the feeling that something was wrong.

That was when he decided to visit a healer.

The healer listened carefully as Jamie shared his frustrations and fears.
“Your energy is out of balance,” the healer explained. “You’re holding onto the belief that you’re cursed, and that belief is creating blocks within your energy centres.”
With the healer’s guidance, Jamie began working on releasing those energetic blocks through breathing exercises, meditation, and consciously letting go of the narrative that he was cursed.

Slowly, he started to feel lighter.

One evening, after a healing session, Jamie unexpectedly ran into an old acquaintance at a café. They began talking and soon started meeting regularly for walks and coffee. Before long, a new relationship blossomed—one built on laughter, understanding, and mutual support.

Looking back, Jamie realised he had never been cursed at all.

Life naturally has its ups and downs. The real change came when he shifted his mindset from helplessness to hope. That change allowed him to see opportunities where he had once only seen obstacles.

Although Jamie never met with me in person, I performed absent healing for him. Through that energetic connection, he began to feel lighter and more balanced. As he reflected on his journey, he realised that the word curse held no real power over him. It was simply a belief—and beliefs can be changed.

Sometimes, what we perceive as a curse is actually a call to heal, grow, and see life through a different lens.

Love and Light,

Ann
