By Robynne: In the spiritual community, discussions about intuition, psychic ability, and mediumship often focus on what is possible.
Yet an equally important question is what is ethical.
Just because someone believes they can tune into another person’s energy does not automatically mean they should. Ethical spiritual practice requires respect, integrity, and consent.
One of the primary reasons it can be considered unethical to read another person’s energy or emotions without permission is that it crosses personal boundaries. Just as we expect privacy in our conversations, thoughts, and personal lives, many people believe their energetic and emotional space deserves the same respect.
Attempting to access someone’s feelings, intentions, or spiritual state without their knowledge can be intrusive, regardless of the reader’s intentions.
Consent is a cornerstone of ethical practice. Reputable psychics and mediums understand that spiritual insight should be offered responsibly and with respect for the people involved. Reading someone without their permission removes their choice and autonomy. It can place the psychic or medium in a position of authority over information that the other person has not agreed to share.
Ethical practitioners recognise that every individual has the right to decide when, how, and with whom they wish to explore their inner world.
Another concern is accuracy.
Emotions and energy are highly subjective. What a psychic interprets as anger, sadness, love, or fear may actually be influenced by their own personal beliefs, biases, or emotional state.
Presenting assumptions as facts can create confusion, misunderstandings, and unnecessary emotional distress. Responsible practitioners acknowledge the limitations of intuitive impressions and avoid presenting interpretations of another person’s private feelings as unquestionable facts.
There is also the danger of manipulation.
When someone claims to know exactly what another person is thinking or feeling, that claim can potentially be used to influence decisions, control relationships, or create dependency.
Ethical spiritual work should empower individuals rather than encourage them to surrender their own judgement to someone else’s interpretation.
True spiritual growth is rooted in respect, compassion, and accountability. A psychic or medium who honours ethical principles understands that their role is not to invade personal space, but to support those who willingly seek guidance.
The highest standard of spiritual practice is not demonstrated by how much information can be gathered, but by how thoughtfully and respectfully that information is handled.
Ultimately, ethics in psychic and mediumship work are about recognising the humanity and sovereignty of every individual.
Whether one views energy reading as a spiritual ability, an intuitive skill, or a personal belief system, consent and respect should always come first. A person’s thoughts, emotions, and energetic presence are not public property. They deserve the same consideration and protection as any other aspect of private life.
Robynne believes that genuine spiritual practice flourishes when wisdom is paired with responsibility, and when curiosity never outweighs respect for another person’s boundaries.
Sending love, light & brightest blessings, as always,
Robynne
