By Luna: From a numerological perspective, 2025 carries the frequency of a 9-year — a year of completion, resolution, and natural closure.
A 9 marks the end of a cycle that has already fulfilled its purpose. It invites discernment. It asks for release, for honesty about what has reached its limit, and for care in how endings are handled so they do not linger unfinished.
This is why many have experienced the year as challenging. It was not a year of expansion, but of shedding.
January arrives in the heart of winter, and winter has its own intelligence. The land is quiet. The soil is resting. Energy turns inward. In older northern cultures, this season was marked by watchfulness, conservation, and clear-eyed assessment. Fires were tended. Stores were counted. Attention was placed on what could be sustained through the dark. Winter shaped people who understood timing.
This is where the ritual of the Thirteen Wishes belongs.
The ritual begins at Christmas, or on any night close to the deepest part of winter. You write thirteen wishes, each on its own piece of paper. These are not fantasies, nor outcomes meant to impress the universe. They are conscious statements of creation, written in the present tense — clear, grounded, and without negation.
Not “I want to be rich,” but something that reflects a genuine shift in how you live, relate, choose, or show up in the world.
The act of writing the wishes is the work. It asks you to look honestly at your life as it is now. Where energy is leaking. What has become unsustainable. What is asking to change. This is your inventory.
Each wish is folded and placed together in a jar or bag. For twelve consecutive nights — often carrying into January — you draw one wish at random. You do not read it. You burn it.
This detail matters.
By not knowing which wish is released, you surrender control. This is the practice of non-attachment. You acknowledge that not everything is yours to manage, force, or micromanage. Each night, another wish disappears into the dark.
After twelve nights, one wish remains.
The thirteenth wish is kept throughout the year as a living agreement. It is not surrendered, but tended — through action, attention, and choice. It represents what requires embodiment rather than release. At the end of the cycle, in December 2026, it is finally burned, marking true completion.
This ritual holds the balance that winter teaches so well:
release and responsibility, surrender and agency.
It aligns naturally with the rhythm of a 9-year and the season that accompanies it. Some things are returned to the unknown. Some things remain in our hands.
A Winter New Year begins at the gate, not the starting line. It starts with awareness, restraint, and respect for timing. For those willing to meet it there, the year unfolds with clarity rather than force.
If you feel drawn to this ritual and would like guidance, you’re welcome to reach out. Whether you have questions about shaping the wishes, clarifying the process, or navigating what arises, I’m happy to support you in moving through it with intention.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very blessed holiday season.
